Highlights of the International Scientific Conference by the Hong Kong Society of Gut Microbiome
In the International Scientific Conference by the Hong Kong Society of Gut Microbiome, we are pleased to have Prof. Stephen TSUI (TSUI Kwok Wing) from the School of Biomedical Sciences of the Chinese University of Hong Kong to share with us the relationship between gut microbiome and mood disorders.In 2014, Prof. Stephen TSUI (TSUI Kwok Wing) led a team at CUHK Medical School to be the first in the world to decipher the dust mite genome, making a major breakthrough in the field of allergen research.
Our second speaker, Dr. Wong, Hei Sunny from the Department of Internal Medicine and Pharmacotherapy, presented the latest directions of enterobacterial therapy in the treatment of target intestinal diseases. In the seminar, Dr. Wong shared with us some scientific findings on the relationship between gut bacteria and colon cancer, and the direction of regulating gut bacteria in the treatment of intestinal diseases.
We are honored to have Prof. Lin Zhixiu, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, to share with us the positioning of Chinese medicine in the treatment of atopic dermatitis and eczema. In the seminar, Professor Lin not only talked about the causes, characteristics and treatment timing of atopic dermatitis, but also shared with us the basic prescriptions for atopic dermatitis, adding and reducing herbs according to different skin characteristics, which was very beneficial to both the editor and the audience!
The last speaker we were honored to have Dr. Steven Loo, President of the Society, to share with us the latest application of specific probiotics as a regulator of gut microbiome in the treatment of eczema.Dr. Loo is a specialist in dermatology and an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. During the seminar, Dr. Loo introduced the causes of eczema, talked about the relationship between gut microbiota and eczema, and showed us some examples of significant improvement after taking specific probiotics to treat eczema, which was a perfect ending to a wonderful seminar.
