Past Research

In 2020, our society started conducting a study on the impact of gut microbial balance on human health, hoping to understand the correlation between the gut dysbiosis and the occurrence of eczema, constipation, obesity, etc. in Hong Kong people, hoping to collect effective data to form a big data center. The results of the study revealed that:

Among them, 123 (46.4%) had eczema and skin allergies, 140 (52.8%) had chronic constipation and 142 (53.6%) had overweight and obesity problems, and more than half of the participants had two or more sub-health problems, reflecting that sub-health problems are very common in Hong Kong.

The majority of patients with eczema are deficient in L. acidophilus and B. lactis, the majority of patients with constipation are deficient in L. plantarum and L. acidophilus, and the majority of patients with chronic diarrhea are deficient in B. bifidum and B. longum.

Future Studies

We will be conducting a large scale community study with the Hong Kong Psoriasis Patients Association on the relationship between psoriasis and gut microecology, and we will also be studying the relationship between sleep indices, childhood developmental disorders and gut microbiome. Stay tuned for more!
