We are honored to have Prof. Lin Zhixiu, Associate Director of the Faculty of Chinese Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, to share with us the positioning of Chinese medicine in the treatment of atopic dermatitis and eczema at the “Gut Microbiome International Symposium”. Professor Lam is dedicated to the pharmacological research of Chinese medicine in the treatment of psoriasis and eczema, evaluating the effectiveness and safety of Chinese medicine treatment. In addition, Prof. Lam has always spared no effort in enhancing the public’s knowledge of Chinese medicine.
In the seminar, Prof. Lin not only explained the causes, characteristics and treatment timing of atopic dermatitis, but also introduced us to the clinical classification of atopic dermatitis into three phases: acute phase, which is mostly seen in infants and children, with erythema, blistering and exudation; subacute phase, with dry skin and dark red patches without blistering; and chronic phase, which is commonly seen in adults, with localized dry skin damage, mossiness and pigmentation. Finally, Prof. Lin shared with us the basic prescriptions for atopic dermatitis, adding and subtracting herbs according to different skin characteristics, which benefited both the editor and the audience!
